Hi, I’m Elana. When I’m not teaching first grade bilingual in Houston, TX, I can usually be found wearing a pair of binoculars and a floppy salmon colored hat. My friends call me the bird nerd, but I prefer the title Birder Babe. I’m not a bird expert (though I do know more than the average twenty-something anthropology major), and I’m definitely not competitive about birding as a sport. When it comes to birding, I follow where my curiosity leads.
This blog is a way for me to share my adventures in birding and connect with other birders. Most of all, I hope to inspire other young people to explore their surroundings with attention to the birds in their midst. Visit my blog for birding photos, tips, and opportunities to get involved in birding in your community. The photos and ideas are mine, the beauty belongs to the birds!
